The NiMH battery is essentially the same as the NiCad, with the main difference being that it contains no cadmium. This results in less environmental impact, as cadmium is known to be toxic to the human body. Additionally, NiMH batteries tend to have higher capacities and a longer operational life than NiCad batteries.
